Xiao Yao Wan is used to alleviate a wide range of symptoms that present due to the stagnation/deficiency of liver qi. It is the traditional herbal formula used for many PMS conditions including headache, cramps, fatigue, moodiness and irregular menstrual cycles. It is often combined with Ba Zhen Wan for menstrual issues. and with Bi Yan Pian or Pe Min Kan Wan for allergy issues with respiratory symptoms. It is also commonly used for symptoms of anxiety, irritability, stress, and depression due to the challenges of daily life and is also helpful with symptoms relating to food allergies and hypoglycemia.
